Kidnapped

About this Book

Kidnapped is an 1886 historical adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. Written as a 'boys' novel' and among the best of Stevenson's works, it was praised by writers as diverse as Henry James and Jorge Luis Borges. The central character, David Balfour, is betrayed and kidnapped by his greedy uncle Ebenezer to be sold into indentured servitude in the Carolinas. En route, David befriends Jacobite rebel Alan Breck Stewart, embarking on a daring cross-country flight across the Scottish Highlands.
